Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation announced the programme of the 10th Season of Spring of Arabic Poetry Festival, held under the auspices of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on March 26-27, 2017 at the theatre of Al-Babtain Central Library for Arabic Poetry. This year’s festival is celebrating the two poets: Yaqoub Abdulazeez Al-Rasheed (Kuwait) and Mustafa Wahbi Al-Tal, better known as Arar (Jordan).
The Foundation Secretary General, Abdulrahman K. Al-Babtain said in a press statement that the festival will kick off on Sunday March 26 at 06:30 pm with a tour in the book exhibition accompanying the three days events. At 07:30 pm, the first poetry reading night will take place after the opening speech of the Chairman of the Foundation, poet Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain. The following poets will participate in the evening: Mosaab Al-rowayshed, Wadha Al-hassawi, Jaber Al-Neama from Kuwait with Mohamed Turki Hijazy and Moayad Al-shayed from Jordan; and Aya Osama Wahbi from Sudan. Dr Salem Abbas Khodada will run the evening.
The events of the second day will start at 06:30 pm with the seminar dedicated to Yaqoub Abdulazeez Al-Rasheed to discuss his life and poetry with Dr Soad Yaqoub Al-Rasheed from Kuwait and Dr Turki Al-Mogheed from Jordan. The seminar will be moderated by Dr Abdullah Al-mehanna. The second poetry reading evening will follow with the poets: Moudi Rahal from Kuwait, Fawzi Eissa and Rana Al-Azzam from Egypt, Mohamed Amin El-Omr and Safwat Qadissat from Jordan, Hassan Kamal from Bahrain and Mohamed Jameel Ahmed from Sudan, while poet Raja Al-Kahtani will run the evening.
The third and last day events will start at 06:30 pm with the seminar of Mustafa Wahbi Al-Tal, better known as Arar in which Dr Tarek Maryoud Al-Tal from Jordan and Dr Abdullah Gholeiss from Kuwait will lecture about the life and poetry of the celebrated poet with Dr Suad Abdulwahab as moderator.
The last poetry reading evening will be held after the seminar and include the following poets: Salem Al-Rumaidhi and Ali Mubarak Al-Azmi from Kuwait, Maysoon Abu-Bakr and Jaafar Hajawi from Jordan, Khaled Al-Wajlani from Tunisia, Dr Maha Al-Otaibi from Saudi Arabia and Abdulmajid Falah from Syria.
