The Chairman of Al-Babtain Central Library for Arabic Poetry, poet Abdulaziz Al-Babtain presented 7,000 books in different topics, to the State of Sudan, on the occasion of choosing the city of Sinnar capital of Islamic culture for 2017.
The gift was given to the Sudanese Ambassador to Kuwait Mohiuddin Salem during his visit to Al-Babtain Library, accompanied by the counselor at the Embassy Al-Sadek Yousuf and members of the diplomatic corps. The Sudanese delegation was received by the Chairman of the Library, poet Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain and the general manager Suad Abdullah Al-Ateeqi.
During the visit, Ambassador Mohiuddin Salem announced that the University of Sinnar established a new Chair for Arabic Language and named it Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Chair for Arabic Language. The Sudanese Ambassador added that Abdulaziz Al-Babtain is an eminent cultural figure who supports Arabic language and thought noting that he received two medals from the President the Republic of Sudan Omar al-Bashir.
Ambassador Salem emphasized that this gift of books is the first Arab initiative to be given to the city of Sinnar and it is acknowledged by the Sudanese government and people.
For his part, poet Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain stressed on how keen is Al-Babtain Central Library for Arabic Poetry on having cognitive and cultural communication with the Republic of Sudan and its people. He noted that disseminating culture through books is the most effective ways of cohesion among intellectuals. Al-Babtain also expressed his appreciation of the medals he received twice from the President of the Republic of Sudan Omar al-Bashir and confirmed that connection will continue with Sudan, this country with long history and ancient culture.
The Sudanese Ambassador ended his visit with a tour in the library and was briefed of its valuable books.
