Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation has chosen “Challenges of a shared world” as title for its 15th session to be held in collaboration with the Middle East Centre, University of Oxford on October 24-25, 2015.
The Foundation announced in a press release today the formation of a committee that contains Arabs and British to prepare for the next session. The committee is headed by Abdul Aziz Al-Babtain , with Professor Eugene Rogan, Dr. Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, the Secretary General of the Foundation, Abdulrahman Al-Babtai, Professor Abraham Shlaim, Professor Walter Armbrust, Professor Michael Willis, the Deputy Secretary-General, Dr. Mohammed Abushwareb and Nadia Turki as members.
Choosing this title, according to the chairman of the Foundation, the poet Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain, puts each of the concerning parties in front of its responsibility to face the challenges that interrupt global peace, noting that dangers of wars, extremism and terrorism will not stop at specific geographic boundaries.
Al-Babtain added that the problem lies in the minds that receive extremist ideas and those are not linked to specific religion or race. They are everywhere and encountering them is everyone's responsibility, stressing on the Foundation’s sought to stimulate the moderate ideology and cultural mindsets.
He explained that stimulating the moderate ideology has an influential role in the leading communities and directs people towards co-existence, tolerance and acceptance of the other regardless his beliefs or ideas. He affirmed the quest of the Foundation to achieve this through the seminars it holds in the West to have a joint dialogue on peace issues.
At the end, he mentioned that the invitations for the fifteenth session were sent to hundreds figures from several fields, religious and intellectuals who belongs to different religions and intellectual trends in order to come up with recommendations that reach the decision-makers in the world and also to spread it through media to a wider segment of people everywhere.
